Louisiana Partners

The Pennington COBRE functions synergistically with the eight other Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence (COBRE) in Louisiana, and the Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center (LA CaTS). Although each Center is focused on a specific research area, the Centers support complimentary aspects of the overall goal of the NIH Roadmap: translating fundamental knowledge into more effective treatments. The Centers create new opportunities for cross pollination of ideas between basic and translational scientists, which are likely to provide previously unrecognized opportunities for developing research teams with the complementary expertise neaded to tackle the complexity of scientific research questions.

Louisiana Clinical and Translational Science Center (LA CaTS)

The LACaTS Center sponsors scholar enrichment programs, cores, pilot funding, and collaborative projects in the quest to increase the competitiveness of the next generation of clinical/translational scientists in Louisiana.
Dr. John Kirwan, Principal Investigator

In additional to the Pennington COBRE, there are 8 other Louisiana COBREs at institutions around the state.
